Mr. Hiroshi Ota

Hiroshi Ota: Picture not yet available.As the former Japanese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Thailand (1996-1999) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (1992-1994), H.E. Mr. Ota is recognized in Asia and abroad for his earnest and straightforward diplomatic skills, high-level network and commitment to Japanese citizens and businesses in the global economy.

A graduate of the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Mr. Ota entered Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in 1960, embarking on a 40 year career of dedicated service to Japan at places and times (Saudi Arabia immediately after the Gulf War Crisis; Thailand during the Asian Financial Crisis) that required a person of keen awareness and resolve.

In addition to his appointments as Ambassador, Mr. Ota served as Minister Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Korea (1988-89) and Counselor at the Embassy of the United States of America (1980-83). H.E. Mr. Ota further served Japan as Senior Vice President of The Japan Foundation (1994-96), Director-General of MOFA’s Scientific and Technological Affairs (1989-92) and Deputy Director-General of MOFA’s Economic Cooperation Bureau (1984-87) and Economic Affairs Bureau (1983-84) .

Mr. Ota divides his time between Bangkok, Thailand and Japan, where he currently teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in International Relations at Kinki University in Osaka.
